Explore Education

Seek out courses as an undergraduate student to explore opportunities related to education and teaching that will build pedagogical skills and knowledge.

If you're looking to round out your program with practical electives, or just wondering if a career in the education field is right for you, courses in schooling and education are transferable to a wide variety of settings. Consider a Minor in Education to enhance your degree.

Or, if you know you're interested in teaching K-12 in the Ontario school system, our Teaching Option is designed to help you prepare to be an outstanding teacher right from year one of your undergraduate degree. The option offers:

  • Foundational courses that focus on teaching.
  • Placements in Ontario classrooms for course credit.
  • A direct route to our Bachelor of Education program.

Interactive and Engaged Learning

Take advantage of the opportunities offered in our programs that focus on integrating theory and practice with real-world settings, and examining current and relevant educational issues.

International Perspectives

Students in the International Education Studies (BA) program can take advantage of extensive experiential learning opportunities, including placements in local and possibly international contexts. Through relevant experiences, you'll learn teaching approaches and philosophies specific to international settings, as well as global awareness and intercultural competencies.

Immersive and Diverse Placements

Bachelor of Education (BEd) students spend over 100 days in the classroom. A key strength of the program is the Professional Development School (PDS) model, where you'll be immersed in the community and culture of your placement school. You'll use that experience to reflect on your learning and discuss unique insights about being a teacher with our instructors and peers. Alternative and international placements offer diverse learning opportunities.

Flexible Learning

The Master of Education (MEd) program course offerings accommodate a traditional full-time work schedule, so it is ideal for current educators and professionals looking to make connections between new skillsets and their work. You can cater your experiences to your interests, including a Student Affairs field of study, an Interdisciplinary focus, and a fully online Interdisciplinary program that blends synchronous and asynchronous classes.
