Parents and Families

As students decide which university to attend and eventually adjust to university life, parents and supporters can also expect to navigate new ways to support them.

At Laurier, we believe an engaged and supportive network is vital to student well-being and success. Your encouragement and advice play an integral role in your loved one’s university experience.

From your student’s first campus visit to convocation day, these resources are here to help you stay informed and connected.

Winter Closure Information

We will all be taking a well-deserved break during the holiday season before the start of the winter term. Laurier will be closed for the winter break from Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025, to Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.

Nicole Brown
“From my first interaction with Laurier, there was a sense of community. There was so much high energy interacting with students and faculty alike and I felt welcomed and seen. Fast forward to now, it is exhilarating to be able to give that same feeling to future students as an Ambassador.”

Parents and Supporters of Prospective Students

As your future Golden Hawk prepares to apply, we know you may have a lot of questions.

Laurier is here to ensure that you have access to the information you need as you learn about our university through information sessions, guided tours and more.

During Laurier’s winter break closure, you can use our handy conversation starters to continue the conversation during this time and virtually explore our campuses from the comfort (and warmth!) of home.

Students are also welcome to apply to Laurier during the winter break but any applications submitted between Dec. 24 and Jan. 2 will not be received and processed by our admissions team until early January. This delay will not have any impact on how we assess applications.

Visit our "Applying to Laurier" page to see how you can support your student through the admissions process, or learn more about:

Parents and Supporters of Current Students

Laurier is proud to offer services that help both domestic and international students thrive. We also recognize that working together with supporters, especially during challenging situations, can often yield positive outcomes for students.

We hope your students have a happy and restful break during our winter closure. Students who have official document and transcript requests should submit these requests no later than Dec. 14 to ensure completion before the holiday closure. Service Laurier will be open and providing services until Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 4:30 p.m.

Graduating a Golden Hawk

All your love and support will lead your student to the finish line: graduation! At university, students need to apply to graduate. Our convocation section has all the information you need about the ceremonies, photos, receptions and more.

Laurier Parents Campaign

As most postsecondary students and their families know, the financial investment of attending university is often more than the just cost of tuition.

Donations from the Laurier Parents Campaign enrich the Laurier experience for not only your special student but also students across campus, both now and in the future. The Laurier Parents Campaign funds impactful projects that would not be possible without your support and truly makes a difference in the lives of students, especially those in need of critical assistance.

We thank you for your generosity and support!
