The Master of Finance (MFin) degree has been named as the "must-have degree" by the Financial Times. The Lazaridis MFin degree is designed to help you pursue a career in finance in positions that demand both extensive finance knowledge and excellent quantitative research skills.

We offer multiple MFin program formats for students looking for full-time studies or for students who wish to participate in Canada’s largest business degree co-op program.

Lazaridis and CFA Partnership

CFA Investment Institute logoThe Lazaridis MFin is a member of the CFA Institute University Recognition Program. You can prepare for all three levels of the CFA examinations while you work toward completing the MFin degree.

Laurier Graduate Student Investment Fund

The Laurier Graduate Student Investment Fund (LGSIF) is an investment fund for graduate students at Wilfrid Laurier University. The daily operation of this fund will be supervised by faculty members and governed by Laurier policies.

Course Offerings

The ten required courses listed below are taught by world-class instructors who will equip you with the foundational and advanced knowledge need to join the next generation of finance leaders in Canada.

You will have the option to take various elective courses and gain exposure to broader finance topics or dive deeper into a specific specialization.

In addition to the 10 required courses and optional elective courses, you will receive training in:

  • Bloomberg terminals;
  • Financial databases;
  • Excel and VBA for financial modelling; and
  • Python for financial modelling.

Admissions

Applications to the co-op and regular program are due Jan. 5 for first consideration. We will continue to take strong applications until the program is full. Applicants who are not accepted into the co-op program will automatically be considered for the regular program.

  • Start: Fall (September) only
  • Format: Full-time
  • Application deadline: May 30 (domestic applicants); March 30 (international applicants)

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis within deadlines until we reach enrolment capacity.

Waterloo Campus

This program is available on Laurier's Waterloo campus.

Tuition and Funding

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees for each school year are set in the spring and come into effect the fall term of each year. Wilfrid Laurier University reserves the right to modify any part of this program. Fees are approved by the Board of Governors and are subject to change without notice.

  • Tuition (domestic): $30,712.50 ($10,237.50 per term for three terms)
  • Tuition (international): $52,407.81 ($17,469.27 per term for three terms)

Scholarships

At Laurier, learning should be your primary concern. All applicants will automatically be considered for an entrance scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic excellence. No additional application is required.

We are currently only offering one-on-one pre-assessments for domestic applicants (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident). International applicants are invited to attend one of our virtual information sessions.
