Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Hey future Golden Hawks!

I’m Nathan Stadig and I’m a third-year student from Collingwood. I am doing a major in Music and minor in History, which has been so awesome because both departments have a tight knit group of students that I have got to know very well over my first two years here!

Laurier is amazing because of its welcoming campus community. This is something that our school has become known for and it could not be more accurate. There are always opportunities to get involved and become someone in the Laurier community so you never feel like you are just a number. This is one of the big reasons why I chose Laurier coming out of grade 12, not to mention the fantastic faculty that make up our school. I remember taking a tour with a campus ambassador and admired how welcoming the entire campus was with students saying hello to us and our ambassador as we walked by and just enjoying their time at university.

I have been involved with the music program in their open houses and have played in the Laurier Symphony Orchestra for two years now. In second year, I had the privilege of playing music for the ME to WE Day and in Veritas Cafe for various events, such as a book launch party. I also had the amazing opportunity to travel to Poland with Laurier International on a WWII Holocaust trip, which was absolutely phenomenal!

Choosing a university can be a stressful stage of life, I get it. However, I have never had second thoughts on my decision to come to Laurier and will be forever grateful for the opportunities that I have had here so far. Best of luck in this new and exciting time of life! Hope to see you around!
