Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Third-year Business Administration
Toronto, Ontario

My name is Keegan Pinto, and I’m currently completing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with the Legal Studies Option. I’m in my third year right now, and have mixed feelings about it. Every new day at Laurier is exciting, and there are always things to look forward to, but I also can’t believe I’m more than halfway done my journey!

I chose Laurier for millions of reasons, but I’ve fallen in love with it for what feels like a million more. Never once have I felt like I made the wrong decision, and I’m so excited to get the chance to not only share my experiences, but to help you find a million different reasons of your own.

First and foremost, I’m here for an education. Laurier fit the bill for me in this category perfectly  with the largest business co-op offering in Canada, an engaging faculty core, and a range of degree customization options, I knew it was a great place for someone like me. When I considered Laurier’s consistently record-setting year over year growth and the program’s impressive domestic and international prestige, I knew that I could put together a degree that was as unique as I am.

While I truly enjoy my program and love my classes, it isn’t the main reason that I love Laurier right now. For me, it’s all about the people — every type of person is at Laurier, and every type is respected. There are hundreds of clubs and ways to get involved, each offering students a unique experience. Being the #1 school in the world in volunteerism, Laurier students definitely know how to enrich their experience. I didn’t know this on my first day, but it is so apparent that I was abundantly aware on my second.

I’ve since gotten involved with various clubs on campus. I’ve joined established business clubs such as The Link, started new clubs like The University Connection, and built interest clubs such as Wheels in Motion. I joined residence life as part of House Council in first year and couldn’t get enough, so I continued on as a Residence Life Don in my second. Unable to leave the first year experience behind, this year I’m ecstatic to be a part of Laurier’s Ambassador Team and have joined the O-Week team as an Ice Breaker. Laurier has given me the opportunity to travel to and teach in China, work in various fields of business and empowered me to put myself out there in ways that I never thought I would (or could).

However, it isn’t the value or experience of these groups and opportunities (amazing as they might be) that have made me so excited to be here. The people in every group are so invested in each other’s success that the mindset is contagious. The excitement, warmth, and feeling of family are absolutely infectious, and I can’t get enough of the people around me.

When you step onto a Laurier campus, you already have over 19,000 friends: that’s why I love Laurier, and that’s what I want to show you.

Welcome home.
