Join us at Laurier

Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Hello future Golden Hawks!

My name is Jamie Learmonth and I’m in my fourth year of the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration program with the co-op option, specializing in finance with a minor in Economics.

In my final year of high school, I toured Laurier and fell in love with the school. The campus, the tight-knit community feel, the endless opportunities and the people all just felt right. I knew then that I wanted Laurier to be my home for the next four years. Three years later, I consider my decision to attend Laurier one of the best decisions of my life. I can only hope that in a few years you’ll look back and feel the same way!

One of the best things about Laurier is the countless opportunities to get involved. With over 200 student clubs, varsity and intramural sports, and Students’ Union committees, there’s something at Laurier for everyone. Where else are you going to get invited to join a Burrito Club and an Origami Club in the same week?

In my first year I joined the A-Team, the team that runs programming for students on campus throughout the year. I made incredible friends and had a blast planning concerts, movies in the Laurier pool, and campus-wide games of manhunt. After that, I was hooked. Now, I’m involved in Orientation Week as an icebreaker for first-year students, I play on three intramural teams, I’m on a Winter Carnival team, I’m participating in an inter-university business school competition called JDCC, and I’m co-president of the Laurier Euchre Club.

Choosing a path after high school is no easy task. At the end of the day, what matters is that you do what will make you happy. I hope you decide that Laurier is the right place for you. Personally, I haven’t stopped smiling since I got here.

I hope to see you on a tour or around campus next year!
