I obtained my doctorate in Biophysics from the University of Guelph in 1999 where I cloned and expressed a potassium ion channel from the visual system of the horseshoe crab, Limulus Polyphemus. After graduation, I taught first-year physics at various Ontario universities. After earning a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario in 2007 I became the Science Librarian at Wilfrid Laurier University. My research revolves around issues in the theory and practice of scholarship including open access and bibliometrics.
