Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I am a member of the OB/HRM faculty and teach organizational behaviour and leadership at the undergraduate and MBA levels at Laurier’s Waterloo and Toronto campuses. I earned my PhD in Business Administration (OB) from the Ivey Business School, my MBA in Strategic Management from the Sauder School of Business, and my BA (Hons) in English and Psychology from Dalhousie University.
I co-authored a meta-analysis on learning goals as well as several award-winning case studies that have been published in various textbooks. I have presented my research at major national and international conferences including the International Congress of Applied Psychology, the Academy of Management annual meeting, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology annual meeting, and the European Group for Organization Studies Colloquium. My training in university level teaching includes a Certificate in University Teaching and Learning as well as the Teaching at the University Level Instructional Skills Workshop, both from Western University.
I am an experienced, certified project manager (PMP). Before earning my PhD, I worked in the public sector as a senior manager in health care, utilities and higher education, as well as in the private sector as a management consultant specializing in family-run firms. Most of my professional work has centered on effective change management within large, complex organizations. I have taught at universities around the world including Japan, Russia and at home in Canada.
My current research focuses on motivation and goal setting for highly complex, novel tasks including learning goals, multiple goals, and employee engagement. My research is most relevant to complex, dynamic environments such as technology management and entrepreneurial ventures.
