Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I received my MSc and PhD in Cognitive Psychology from Western University (1994-2000). Following this, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Cognitive Science at the University of California, San Diego (2000-2002). I joined the Department of Psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2002.
The research conducted in my lab investigates the neurocognitive basis of language and cognition. Current projects in the lab are designed to provide insight into how people generate event representations during critical cognitive processes such as language comprehension, autobiographical memory retrieval and imagining events in general. One of the main focuses of this research is how different temporal and visual perspectives constrain event representations during these crucial processes. By employing Event-Related Brain Potential Methodology (ERP), we hope to gain a better understanding of the neurocognitive underpinnings of these processes.
The Language and Cognition Laboratory is always searching for talented undergraduate and graduate students for various positions (research assistants, honours students, graduate studies or volunteers).
Please contact Dr. Ferretti if you are interested in becoming a member of the lab.
