Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I hold the position of principal bassoon of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, I am a former member of the Daraja Ensemble, and I am also an active freelancer in Toronto. Some other groups I have played with are the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Canadian Opera Company, Niagara Symphony Orchestra, and Washington Chamber Orchestra, and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. I hold a Masters of Music from the University of Maryland where I was a member of their fellowship chamber music program, and hold a Bachelors of Music from the Eastman School of Music. My principal teachers have been: Eric Hall, Sue Heineman, John Hunt, and Fei Xie.
I have a strong interest in woodwind quintets and orchestral studies. I am also strongly invested in actively finding ways to provide students with strong fundamentals on the bassoon. In the near future I hope to explore the relationships between aerobic training and woodwind playing.
My goal as a teacher is to provide you with a strong foundation of bassoon control and musical thought. The bassoon can be a challenging instrument, and my belief is that with a structured curriculum you can better navigate and grasp the challenges we all face. I believe that becoming a strong reed-maker is another essential skill that must be carefully taught. We will be making a lot of reeds! Finally, when control of the instrument, musical thoughts, and reed- making abilities are combined and applied to orchestral repertoire or in a chamber setting, the result is a great musician!
