Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

I am a soprano local to KW. My degrees include a BMus in Voice Performance and Music History from Laurier, and an MMus and DMA in Voice Performance from the University of Western Ontario. During my DMA I pursued ground-breaking interdisciplinary research into muscle tension voice disorders.
I am passionate about music – learning, sharing through performing, and nurturing my students. I enjoy performing in opera, oratorio, and recital, especially innovative and interdisciplinary productions. My first love as a solo singer was and is art song, as I have a real enthusiasm for poetry and foreign language study. I am thrilled to instruct vocal pedagogy and vocal health at my alma mater, Wilfrid Laurier University.
I also welcome students from beginner to professional-level to my private studio, centering lessons around student-goals – anything from pursuing music as a career and learning sustainability in professional singing practice, to singing or playing the piano for the very first time. One of my mantras as a voice teacher is “Anyone can sing!” Please find more information at my personal website: elizabethlepock.com.
My primary research interests are in the field of vocal health and singing, specifically into chronic occupational vocal dysfunction in singers, such as muscle tension voice disorders. This research intersects with vocal pedagogy, especially regarding the benefits of cross-training, the need for more comprehensive vocal health and pedagogy education, a reduction of stigma towards vocal dysfunction, and granting students greater agency over their own voices and wellness.
I’m also interested in pursuing use of art song recitals as a vehicle for composer-like self-expression for the performer both in terms of creativity, and in terms of speaking to important topics such as mental health and feminism.
