I am a member of the voice faculty at Wilfrid Laurier University. In addition, I am the singing coach at the Stratford Festival (eighth season) and the Birmingham Conservatory (sixth season). I am an alumna of The Royal College of Music (United Kingdom), where I completed my postgraduate studies in the genres of Opera and Concert Repertoire. I have enjoyed a 20-year career as a soloist in opera, oratorio, recital, and musical theatre, performing nationally and internationally. As a singing coach, I have worked with young singers in the Canadian Company of “Billy Elliot” for Mirvish Productions in Toronto, and “The Hockey Sweater” for the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. As a faculty member at the Beckett School, I will teach the “Broadway 101” course in Musical Theatre, and am pleased to join the Beckett School voice faculty this fall.
I divide my time between classical music and musical theatre. I have witnessed many parallels between the art of the classical actor and the classical singer, and am interested in combining ideas about text, sound, physicality and authenticity from these complementary worlds. My first priority for my students is to create a space in our lessons for open communication, learning and fun.
