For Immediate Release
Brantford – Wilfrid Laurier University’s Brantford campus and Conestoga College will celebrate the achievements and successes of international students during the fourth annual Multicultural Gala, taking place March 15 at the Brantford Convention Centre.
Presented by the Wilfrid Laurier University Intercultural Students Association of Brantford, Laurier International and Conestoga College, the gala will feature a multicultural dinner, performances, a cultural fashion show and an awards ceremony.
“The Laurier and Conestoga communities are coming together to celebrate and recognize the contribution of our diversity-rich campuses and the work and involvement of our students, faculty and stakeholders,” said Jane Desmond, international student advisor with Laurier International. “This gala creates space for a more connected and expansive worldview where we can validate that we are more alike than different.”
Laurier and Conestoga collaborated on this year’s gala as part of the institutions’ efforts to create a connected and engaged student experience.
“These awards recognize our students’ academic success and their contributions to building a vibrant and engaged campus community,” said Kendra Foord, student engagement programmer for Conestoga’s Brantford campus. “The partnership between Conestoga and Laurier allows students from both institutions to work together to plan activities and foster meaningful social connections.”
While celebrating the international student community, the gala is also designed to recognize faculty and staff members who participate in the international student experience. The evening will also feature a dance highlighting music from several cultures.
The Multicultural Gala takes place March 15 from 6 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. at the Brantford Convention Centre, 100 Market St. S. in Brantford. Free tickets for students, faculty and staff are available until March 13 at the Brantford campus Laurier International office, located at 274 Colborne St.
