For Immediate Release
Brantford – Wilfrid Laurier University is developing a Creativity Hub at One Market in the heart of Laurier’s Brantford campus. The hub will be an inclusive community space that will encourage collaboration, creation and presentation of all forms of digital creative media. As part of the exploration and development process, community sessions are being held in August in Brant, Norfolk and Haldimand to encourage stakeholders to get involved and informed about the project.
“This is our chance to reach out to emerging and established professionals, as well as non-profit organizations and professional associations affiliated with creativity industries, to understand how this space could enhance their creative work,” said Tamara Louks, Creativity Hub coordinator.
The Creativity Hub will offer public memberships to creative industry professionals, non-profit organizations and artists. With the proximity to Laurier, community members will have an opportunity to operate their businesses and develop projects in conjunction with, and in support of, student learning, faculty research and community engagement.
Community sessions are open to anyone involved in digital creative media such as podcasting, video, audio, graphic arts and games.
At the sessions, project coordinators will share the latest plans for membership models, physical space and programming, including an overview of the current assets available to the community. Participants can share their feedback in person during the sessions and online through expression of interest forms.
“We are excited to share the picture of this project and get feedback from the general community to see if this idea meets their needs as creatives in Southern Ontario,” said Adrian Beam, Creativity Hub coordinator. “Their voices will help us determine how the project should move forward.”
The following community information sessions are open to the general public:
